Item: Pillow Chair
The Pillow Chair or akicholong is carved by young and old alike. Pokot and Turkana use the pillow chair for sitting when they have an elders meeting or resting in the shade. When the day is hot and the river side cool, it becomes a pillow to rest your head for a nice nap. All the herdsmen carry their pillow chairs. They range in color and shape but all are about 7 inches high and from 6-11.5 inches long. They are carved from a single piece of wood and have a leather handle attached for easy carrying.
