This cross is hand carved in Africa from Ebony wood.  Ebony is a protected wood in most countries and only branches are regularly harvested. This cross is 13" long of 2 1/2" wide strips of ebony.  The arms of the cross are actually separate pieces of ebony carefully attached to the main stem of the cross. The raised design centers on a down facing dove with carved hands reaching out. 

It is a wonderful one of a kind piece.
