Item: Soapstone Embracing Lovers Soapstone is quarried in a small town called Tabaka near Kisii, Kenya. The natural stone is soft and varies in color from pure white, cream, and rose to charcoal gray. Richard Juma travels from Nakuru to Kisii to purchase roughly shaped soapstone figures. He then returns to Nakuru and with Lucy and Elijah finishes carving, sanding and applying dye and polishing figures such as this soapstone figure.
Figure is Embracing Soapstone Lovers and is approximately 2 1/2 inches tall and is dyed black in color.
