Soapstone is quarried in a small town called Tabaka near Kisii, Kenya. The natural stone is soft and varies in color from pure white, cream, and rose to a charcoal gray.  After the stone is quarried, it is rough carved into a variety of designs, shapes or household utensils.  Occasionally the rough cutter will continue on to finish the stone but often the rough cuts are sold to other soapstone finishers who take them back to their stalls and work the item to finish.

These love knots are made from a single piece of stone and depict the flow of two becoming one.  It is a favorite wedding or anniversary gift. The beautiful smooth curves and cool calm look can add to any decor.

Each love knot is hand carved and finished so each varies a bit.  The soapstone also has color and grain all its own making each piece 100% unique.
