Item: Pet Collar It is said Maasai women can bead anything. They sit with their mothers before they can even walk and watch the beading. As soon as they are able the little girls try their hand at beadwork. Sitting next to Mom on the grass they are given needle and thread and a small collection of beads. Byt he time they are grown it is as much second nature to bead sitting in the shade of an acacia in the mid afternoon as it is to hike to the river for water. Though animals owned by the Maasai don't wear collars, they have learned to bead items for the western world. One of these collars is 20" long with 13 1/2" of beadwork stitched to a double layer of leather. Triple riveted with double leash loops, the 4 adjustment holes are located between 16 1/4" and 17 3/4" from the strong buckle. The other collar is 18 1/2" long with 11 1/2" of beadwork stitched to a double layer of leather. Triple rivet with double leash loops the 4 adjustment holes are located between 14" and 16 1/4" from the strong buckle. Unfortunately, the rivets and buckle show a small amount of rust upon close examination so this collar has been reduced for quick sale.
