It is said Maasai women can bead anything.  They sit with their mothers before they can even walk and watch the beading.  As soon as they are able the little girls try their hand at beadwork.  Sitting next to Mom on the grass they are given needle and thread and a small collection of beads.  Byt he time they are grown it is as much second nature to bead sitting in the shade of an acacia in the mid afternoon as it is to hike to the river for water. 

Though animals owned by the Maasai don't wear collars, they have learned to bead items for the western world. 

This collar is 15" long with 7 1/4" of beadwork stitched  on dyed black leather.  Triple riveted with leather guide and single leash loop, the 5 adjustment holes are located between 10 1/2" and  13 1/2" from the strong buckle.
