Tom Gale is a professor at USIU in Nairobi but on weekends he travels to the Mathare slums to teach Saturday classes. The children eagerly rush to school.  He occasionally gives them an essay assignment on controversial subjects like AIDS, parents, slum living, etc. 

This book is a compilation of his images and the children's essay work.
