Item: Hyacinth Book Marker![]() Hyacinth is a plant that was brought to Kenya by the colonists. It was used in their back yard fish ponds. When they were overgrown they threw it into Lake Victoria. Unfortunately- there was nothing that ate it or killed it so it reproduced at will and took over. Now it is a menace to fish and boats. So they try to find ways to destroy it. In typical African fashion -- a use is found for it. Everything from bookmarks and hair clips to furniture is made from the water hyacinth.
Book markers meaure 2"x7" and the colors of the tin person and beads will vary.
