The Commiphora tree donates its branches to the Pokot carvers for a variety of items. This is the Pokot Flute.

The flute sounds low and hollow much like a digeredoo of Australia with little tonal differences. 
You can get a low sound but you have to blow hard!!

The Pokot enjoy coal burning designs on their wooden carvings.  

On our journey to Northern Kenya to bring relief food to orphans we drove past the Ghomcho Center and stopped to watch the men create the Pokot Sugar Dishes. We told them to bring items for us to purchase on our way back. When we arrived, there were many men and women waiting. They had brought many of their items new and old for us to purchase. This Pokot Flute is one of them.
