This is an authentic Turkana Drinking Container from Kenya. 

It is a seasoned 3 1/2" x 8" coal burned wooden container.  A well worn leather harness wraps around the bottom of the container with straps extending from the harness and a braided leather strap to hold the tight fitting leather lid. 

Made for use and well used, this container comes complete with remants of its contents on the leather, the odor of its usual contents, wood ash and milk, the leather it was made from and a bit of its previous owner. It is beautiful with a well worn patina and still very serviceable with no holes. A wonderful museum or collection piece.
