Item: 6" Soapstone Giraffe Bowl

Soapstone is quarried in Tabaka, Kenya. It is rough cut near the quarry. The rough cut stone is then sold to soapstone finishers. Charles Ombesa smoothed the bowl and painted the giraffe design. He then etched the giraffe to bring otu the natural stone in the design and polished the bowl. It is 6" in diameter and 1 1/2" deep at the center. The underside is mottled paint.
