This Mat is hand made from Banana Fiber. The banana plant is as large as a tree but is actually a grass. After one shoot of the banana plant has produced, it dies. The tough yet flexible fibers can be collected, dried cut into strips and woven. This mat was woven by Isolo Weavers, a women's group in Kenya. It is 35" wide and 62" long.
It would look elegant on a hardwood floor or hanging on the wall.
