Item: Tiny Luo Pot
Lily Kiegan travels to Kisii, Kenya to purchase rough carved items. She returns to her home on the equator and finishes the items. The first step is to soften the stone in water and complete the carvings with a small knife and sandpaper. When the item is dry, it is painted in the desired design and a small knife or nail file is used to etch around the design to bring out the color of the natural stone beneath. It is then waxed and polished.
This small Luo Pot is approximately 1 1/4" in diameter at the mouth and 1 1/2-2" tall. It is a perfect accent piece for your desk or window sill. |
