This sisal tube basket was hand made by the Yatta South Women's Group in Katangi, Kenya.  The fibers are drawn from the sisal plant, and hand formed into cordage by twisting the fibers on the thigh.  When enough cordage is made the women gather at their center and dye the fiber. They then carry it back to their village homes and weave the fibers into baskets which are then brought back to the center to sell or fill orders.

This tube basket measures approximately 3" x 6"  with a tight fitting lid.

It is perfect for filling with small treats for a thoughtful gift.  It can also be used in the home in a variety of creative ways.  Redo your bathroom with matching or blending sisal baskets, a different size for towels and washcloths.  This tube basket can stand close by to hold your brushes and combs.   It can hold the treats for the pets or the remote.
