This 6" basket is woven from the fibers ofthe baobab tree.  The bark is safely harvested from the huge tree and dried.  It is then split into small pieces and chewed.  During the chewing process the fibers separate and can then be hand twisted into long strands of cordage. The cordage is then woven into strong long lasting baskets and bags. 

This basket is 6" high and decorated with banana fiber trim and three wooden beads.
