Item: Small Sisal Hanging Basket![]() This charcoal colored small sisal basket was hand made by the Yatta South Women's Group near Machakos, Kenya. The fibers are drawn from the sisal plant, and hand formed into cordage by twisting the fibers on the thigh. When enough cordage is made the women gather at their center and dye the fiber. they then carry it back to their village homes and weave the fibers into baskets which are then brought back to the center to sell or fill orders. This small basket measures approximately 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" with a braided fiber handle. It is perfect for filling with small treats for a thoughtful gift. It can also be used in the home in a variety of creative ways. Redo your bathroom with matching or blending sisal baskets, a different size for towels and washcloths. This little basket can hang close by to hold your jewelry while you shower. Hanging next to your computer it can hold the jump drive cap and/or the miscellaneous small things that seem to slip away when you aren't looking. Use your imagination for so many more creative ideas.
