Shipbos are well known for their beautiful intricate embroidery.  This work is hand done with needle and thread usually expressing a story and design that has age old significance.  Although the meaning of the designs has been lost, anthropologists theorize that the designs could be a form of language, or that they represent the twisting rivers and canals. 

This piece 9 3/4" in diameter.  It has 100% black cotton base.  

Several types of stitches are used to create the design with a blanket stich border.

The rounds can be used in a variety of ways.  They can be used as a decorative doily on a side table or centerpiece. They can be mounted and hung. Used as decorative patches or in quilting.
