Shipibo pottery is a mixture of geometric patterns. Although the meaning of the designs has been lost, anthropologists theorize that the designs could be a form of language, or that they represent the twisting rivers and canals. The Shipibo design seems to be a communal art as one woman could stop her work and another could continue with no disruption in the pattern. 

Each piece is hand made beginning with the coil start, no pottery wheel is used. The pieces are "fired" on an open fire.  

This pot measures 8.5" across the top, the middle being the widest measures 56", and height is 21.5 "
