These Rain Sticks were bought from a Shipibo cooperatively owned store in Yarina Cocha called Marate Shobo. It is cooperatively owned by the Shipibos and the artists who make the art work at the store .  The artist get all the profits.

The design on the sticks is an ancient way of expressing a story that has age old significance. Although the meaning of the designs has been lost, anthropologists theorize that the designs could be a form of language, or that they represent the twisting rivers and canals and is special to the shipbo culture.
